Centered in Manhattan, Silicon Alley generated over US $2.1 billion in venture capital investment in the first half of 2014. The name was first coined by a New York staffing recruiter, Jason Denmark. He was working on attracting candidates away from Silicon Valley and into high tech jobs in New York.
