Applying the MacBook Air EFI Firmware Update 1.0 may reset the Parameter RAM (PRAM), a small area of non-volatile RAM (NVRAM) in your MacBook Air.   PRAM allows your MacBook Air to remember your settings including Time Zone, startup volume, and speaker volume.
