iPhone 4S Video: Seagull Squawking At Venice Pier In Los Angeles

www.thenaturalguide.com - I videotaped this seagull squawking with my new iPhone 4S and the picture quality is fairly good, but the video codec is bad. I imported the footage into iPhoto, then imported it into Final Cut Pro 6 and put it onto the timeline. The audio is not 48KZ, so I had to render the audio. I'm running an 8-core Mac Pro and the footage slowed all responses on the timeline cursor, start, stop, etc. I added transitions to the timeline, and those took forever to render, and then wouldn't play correctly. I outputted the timeline to Quicktime and the transitions were a major fail. So I took out the extra footage and just uploaded this clip. My first upload was with it at full size in the Apple Intermediate Codec, and YouTube rejected it! This clip is a scaled down video (640 X 360) of the original, and actually I'm quite surprised I had to do that. Although the footage looks great on the iPhone, I just can't ever see using it in any type of professional application. If you know of any tricks on how to handle this footage in Final Cut Pro, please leave a comment. Larry Cook
