Apple were forced to temporarily postpone sales of its iPhone 4S in Chinese stores after scuffles last week outside the flagship Bejing store. Researchers were inspired to name Scaptia (Plinthina) Beyonceae after the singer because of its striking golden bottom. "It was the unique dense golden hairs on the fly's abdomen that led me to name this fly in honour of the performer Beyoncé, as well as giving me the chance to demonstrate the fun side of taxonomy - the naming of species," Bryan Lessard from Australia's science agency CSIRO told Metro. He added that the fly's golden posterior makes it the "all-time diva of flies". Aussie farmers consider the horsefly a pest. Beyoncé is yet to comment.
