Turn your PS Vita into a phone – Skype app review (Zoomingames 1080p)

Skype has become available for the PS Vita. You can download the free app in the PlayStation Store. The app makes it possible to video call people over 3G or WiFi. Lets find out if Skype on Vita is any good. The Vita version of Skype is pretty basic compared to the pc and iPhone version. All you can do is video call people on your friends list or call normal phones if you have money on your Skype account. It's impossible to add contacts or send text messages. Video calling someone with your Vita works pretty well. You can switch between the front and back camera like most high end smart phones and the audio quality is decent. If you are in a noisy area you might be tempted to put your ear on one of the speakers. Just know this does look kind of ridiculous. If you leave Skype running on your Vita you will receive a notification when someone is calling you. If you are playing a game you can simply pause and take the call or ignore it and continue playing. The Vita version of Skype is extremely basic. The limited amount of features can be pretty frustrating but the most important part works fine. Skype makes it possible to video call people on the go which is nice for anyone who doesn't already own a high end smart phone.
