App Wednesday: Cubemen Review

Welcome to App Wednesday! Each Wednesday I will review an App for the iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad or Mac and today's app is Cubemen. Cubemen is a tower defense type game with the added bonus of being 3D and feeling more interactive than previous games of the same genre. There are various game modes from the standard single player, to multiplayer and online gaming options. In addition there are also different game types such as the classic wave upon wave attack, limited players/cubes, just rockets, endless waves or sudden death. Hopefully something for everyone. Each level is made up of cubes in some form or another and become more built up and elaborate as the game progresses and becomes more difficult. The levels are fully interactive and allow you pinch to zoom in or out and you can also rotate the level to gain a better view. The aim of the game is to stop the enemy units from reaching your spawn point and you do this by creating units of your own to fight off the waves of enemies. There are various units to choose from such as the standard cubeman that just shoots at the enemy, different variations also have flamethrowers, mortars, rocket launchers, lasers and sniper rifles. All in all a good selection and a variety of ways to fend of the incoming attack. Units are purchased with the number of cubes that you accrue from defeating the enemy units.
