China, US largest consumers of EP elastomers; Chinese plans to add domestic production capacity could weaken demand for US exports

According to a new IHS Chemical (NYSE: IHS) market study, a significant uptick in global autos demand, particularly in Asian countries such as China and India, is helping drive increased manufacturing demand for ethylene-propylene (EP) elastomers, synthetic rubber materials useful primarily in manufacturing certain automotive parts, single-ply roofing and appliance parts.
