Extend your iPhone’s battery life in style

Apple does its best to improve battery life with each new iPhone generation. But this isn’t simply a question of engineering bigger or more efficient batteries. The company is battling against a wider trend towards more demanding features (such as the always-on display added to the iPhone range this year) and slimmer designs.

As things stand, iPhones last for around a day between charges, if you’re reasonably careful about usage. That’s enough for some. But if you’re on holiday, travelling for work, or otherwise unable to easily reach a charging point, it’s woefully inadequate.

The iPhone has grown to be the central device in our lives, holding not just casual entertainment such as Netflix, YouTube, Apple TV+ and our games libraries, but plane tickets, medical data, and critical business information. Running out of battery at a key moment can be hugely inconvenient.

The solution to your battery woes

Rather than buying a larger phone with a larger battery unit (which is hard to find and less pleasant to use), the best approach is to buy a separate battery pack accessory. In situations where one-day battery life is sufficient, you can leave the pack at home. But when you’re planning a trip, one or more battery packs are a convenient and useful addition to your luggage.

This is especially true once you add in the advantages of MagSafe, Apple’s proprietary charging standard, which combines fast wireless charging with a secure magnetic attachment.

Why you should choose a Momax battery pack

If you’re in the market for a charging accessory, it’s well worth considering the range of products made by Momax. Crucially for iPhone owners worried about the issue of limited battery life, the company offers four battery packs compatible with Apple’s MagSafe standard.

Models IP105, IP108, UD21 and CM20 are united by their use of a unique and cool-looking transparent design, which reveals the charging coil and other components used to power up your phone. But it’s the differences between these four accessories that make them such a versatile option for iPhone owners.

Whereas Apple offers a single MagSafe Battery Pack in a single format and design, the Momax range offers multiple designs and styles. If you want to charge your iPhone in the car, for example, you can buy the CM20. If you’re interested in a puck-style flat charger, the UD21 is for you. And if you want to watch movies and TV shows on the phone while it’s charging, pick the IP105 or IP108, which are equipped with built-in stands.

Finally, Momax offers the choice of either a USB-C or Lightning power input, which means you can pick the option that’s best for you. This isn’t a purchase that will require you to buy a new set of cables and adapters.

Price-wise, Momax’s chargers come in at a far lower price than Apple’s $99/£99 battery pack. They start at $29.99/£34.99, and even the most expensive of the four is just $45.99/£45.99.

The company has a storefront on Amazon (US or UK) where you can find out more about the Transparent Series, and Macworld readers can get 10% off each purchase using the code MACWORLD10.
